We invite performance art makers and groups with need and ambition to develop their creative process, research performative strategies and formats, and reflect on their work from diverse artistic perspectives. Before you start to fill in the application form, please check the terms and conditions for your participation.

ADMISSION

We look forward to receiving applications from artists with the ambition to:

• develop and present contemporary performance art projects;
• open their working process for daily feedback from diverse artistic discourses;
• expand their artistic practice, research performative strategies and formats;
• upgrade production models and sharpen critical reflection on contemporary art.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• BA education in the performing arts or related artistic areas and at least three finished projects; OR
• at least five years of practice in the field of contemporary performing arts and at least three finished projects as the author of the project.

GROUP APPLICATION

A group (two or more artists working together on the same project proposal) may apply with a single application form submitted by the group leader. Group members are not required to pay a registration fee.

PARTICIPATION FEE: 350 EUR

TRAVEL COSTS & ACCOMMODATION
The participation fee does not include travel costs, accommodation, insurance and other personal expenses, which you will have during your stay in Ljubljana. At your request, the organizer will help you to find acceptable accommodation in Ljubljana.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE
If you decide to attend PARL, please ensure your availability. Reception day is August 21 – at 19:00 you are expected to attend a briefing with coaches where you will present your updated project proposal. Further information about the reception day expect in your letter of acceptance.

WORKING SPACE
PARL provides basic spatial conditions with minimal technical equipment. Due to limited spatial options and different technical equipment, please be realistic about the assessment of your needs and be prepared for the necessary adaptations and self-organization. The final agreement on space and other working needs follows after the completion of the admission procedure.

PROJECT PROPOSAL
The project proposal is the most important for your admission. It’s wise to formulate your idea before the deadline pressure. Ask yourself why you want to develop this project, what its key message is and why it should be relevant to the audience. Be precise and to the point.

ACCEPTANCE PROCEDURE
Based on the recommendations of the PARL coaches and producers, the final decision on the selection of the participants will be made by 20 May 2024. You will receive a letter of acceptance by e-mail together with all the information necessary to pay the participation fee. Applications without the full payment of the participation fee in due time will be considered provisional applications.

CANCELLATION BY THE PARTICIPANT
Cancellation must be submitted by email to PARL and will be effective on the date of receiving written confirmation of withdrawal. Regardless of your reasons for cancellation, the following cancellation policy applies:

• if you cancel by 15 June 2024, you will get a 50% refund of the paid fee;
• if you cancel after 15 June 2024, you will have to pay the full fee (no refund).

CANCELLATION BY THE ORGANIZER
PARL reserves the right to cancel the program due to lack of interest or if any other circumstance beyond our control prevents us from delivering it. PARL will inform participants of a cancellation the first week of June 2024 by email and reimburse all fees paid up to that time. We advise participants not to make any travel arrangements or private accommodation bookings prior to our final confirmation as any expenses made, other than the participation fee, cannot be reimbursed.
